Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
The Northern Inner City district consists of the central parts of Stockholm, Norrmalm, and Östermalm. Here, we work to provide our 155,000 residents with the best services in areas such as preschool, social services, elderly care, and urban development. We welcome you who want to make a difference for the residents of the Northern Inner City.
Welcome to the Northern Inner City Children’s Unit!
The area of child and family services in the Northern Inner City consists of five units; the reception unit for children and youth, three investigation units, as well as foster care/contact services and family law.
Our area is led by an area manager and five unit managers. A mentor also works within the area.
The Children’s Unit investigates reports and applications concerning children aged 0-11 years and consists of nine social workers, several of whom have extensive experience in child and youth work. There is a good atmosphere where we help each other manage difficult assessments and find solutions that lead to positive changes for the children and parents we meet. We are now looking for a substitute for one of our employees who is on parental leave. The duration of the substitute position is until the turn of the year 2026.
Your role
Your main tasks as a social worker are to:
- Based on BBiC, investigate children’s needs for protection and support, as well as follow up on interventions according to SoL and handle cases according to LVU.
- Start from a systems-oriented perspective where you actively work to involve the child, parents, and, when possible, the family’s network in the process to the greatest extent possible.
- Continuously make assessments and handle situations that can sometimes be urgent and unforeseen.
Your experience and competence
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in social work and previous experience in investigations related to children and youth.
- Good knowledge of the legislation within the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act on Special Provisions on the Care of Young People (LVU).
- Training and experience in Children’s Needs in Focus (BBIC) and preferably Signs of Safety.
We are looking for someone who wants to work with a child-centered focus and has ideas and takes initiatives on how we can create the best conditions for our families. Great importance will be placed on your personal qualities, as we see this as an important part both in the actual client work and also in the employee role within the unit.
What do we offer you?
The Northern Inner City district administration offers you a workplace where active employee participation and clear leadership are the foundation for providing the best service to the people of Stockholm. We offer an individually tailored introduction with support from the unit’s mentor. As an employee with us, you will work on exciting, varied assignments and develop. We apply flexible working hours as well as winter and summer working hours, and you will receive a wellness allowance.
Are you curious about working with us and feel that the described position would suit you? Warmly welcome your application! The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thereby counteracting discrimination.
